American Kennel Club Offers Suggestions for Obama’s New “Number Two” : AKC Selects Short List of “Canine Candidates” and Enlists America’s Help to Choose the Right Dog Breed for the Obama Family @ http://www.presidentialpup.com

NEW YORK (PRWEB) July 2, 2008

“Deciding what breed to get is as important as deciding whether to get a dog in the first place,” says AKC spokesperson Lisa Peterson. “The first step in being a responsible pet owner is to do some serious and careful research to determine which breed of dog is right for you and your family.”

The Obama family will be adding a dog to their household for the first time, but according to an Associated Press survey Republican Presidential nominee John McCain and his wife already have 24 pets, including four dogs. The “McCain canines” are an English Springer Spaniel named Sam, two Yorkshire Terriers named Lucy and Desi, and a mixed-breed named Coco. Making up the rest of McCain’s menagerie are a cat, two turtles, a ferret, three parakeets and 13 saltwater fish.

As for a breed for the Obamas, the AKC has scoured all of the “canine candidates” to assess each breed’s credentials as potential “first pet.” Choices were narrowed significantly due to their daughters’ allergies. Therefore, AKC experts made the selection from their list of hypoallergenic breeds.

In the true spirit of doggy democracy, the AKC is asking Americans to vote on the breed they think the Obama family should select. The short list of “canine candidates” chosen by the AKC are:

The Bichon Frise (pronounced BEE-shon Free-ZAY) A small yet sturdy dog with a white, loosely curled double coat, Bichons are naturally sociable. They have a self-assured temperament and are likely to get along with just about everyone (including members of Congress, regardless of party affiliation). Their active, alert and curious personalities make them easy to train, and the breed’s history of being a companion to noblemen in the courts of 16th-century France have primed it for a high-profile life in the White House. Learn more at http://www.akc.org/breeds/bichon_frise/. The Chinese Crested Their Chinese and African heritage makes for an exotic pedigree, and with its unique appearance it’s certain to turn heads. Coming in two varieties, hairless and the powderpuff, Cresteds are lively, playful and alert dogs with plenty of energy. While they are exceptionally loving and affectionate with children, they are only appropriate for mature children who can be taught to handle this diminutive breed gently and responsibly. They excel in obedience training and even as hunting companions. The breed comes in three sizes. While their coat does require frequent grooming, their intelligence and versatility more than make up for the extra care. The Poodle is currently the eighth most popular breed in the U.S., according to AKC registrations statistics (AKC

Why You’re Right to Blame the Parents

(PRWeb UK) June 20, 2010

Parents are being urged to get help if they can’t control their temper, as leading children’s charities describe a clear link between angry parents and damaged children.

The new warning comes as the British Association of Anger Management gathers data on the extent of the problem, working with leading children’s charities including the NSPCC.

John Cameron, head of the NSPCC’s child protection helpline says that parental anger was the root cause of a a spectrum of issues which the NSPCC deals with, from domestic violence to bullying in the playground.

He says: What we see from our calls is just the tip of the iceberg. We want a change of attitude. Anger is stigmatised in society in the way that mental health once was. Parents find it very difficult to seek advice. We are saying to parents, your behaviour impacts on the child’s, you need to learn to manage it.

According to Parentline Plus, most parents who call to say they have anger issues have mentioned their children’s mental health as well, saying that children feel confused or fearful.

Calls to Parentline Plus about problems with anger have doubled in frequency for the period October 2007 to June 2009 (from 206 calls a month to 407 a month), with 16% of those reporting a mental health issue citing anger as the problem.

A spokesman says: The anger issue reaches a peak at January and August. Based on that, we could probably say that Christmas or going back to school after Christmas and summer holidays actually tends to trigger more anger.

Mike Fisher, director of the British Association of Anger Management comments: A child emulates what he sees, angry behaviour rubs off in many ways. For example, a child from an angry household won’t respond to reason when he gets to school, he won’t understand relationships which don’t display anger. Education then suffers, leading to career prospects suffering and on into criminality. The cost to society is enormous.

The British Association of Anger Management offers a range of courses around the country to help parents and others learn to manage and express their feelings of anger in a positive way.

The Right Way to Listen To Victims of Child Sexual Abuse

Jacksonville Beach, Florida (PRWEB) April 04, 2012

April is National Child Abuse Prevention month and Don Dymer, president and chief executive officer of SingleSource background screening corporation wants to share some helpful advice on how to listen if a child or youth has the courage to open up about the abuse. What happens in those first few seconds of dialogue can make a difference between stopping the abuse, or a child retreating further into darkness.

People abuse children from all walks of life, explains Don Dymer, chief executive officer and president of SingleSource background screening company. The Centers for Disease Control reports that more than 500,000 children in the United States are sexually molested each year. But molesters are rarely caught and since most children will never report the abuse, there is little linking these molesters to the horrible abuse and little or no chance they will be convicted and stopped.

What do I do if a child tells me that he/she has been sexually abused?

Dymer continues, The foundation, From Darkness to Light tells us that studies show that children rarely report abuse when it is occurring and almost 80% will in fact deny the abuse. As adults we need to be alert to signs that something might be wrong.

Dymer continues, “If a child does come to you here is critical advice from the Child Molestation Research & Prevention Institute on what you should do if a child is brave enough to share their pain with you. Take the time to really listen to the child when they want to talk. Believe what you are hearing no matter how unfathomable it sounds. (remember 90% of abuse is done by someone the child knows, trusts and loves.) Assure the child that they are doing the right thing by telling and you will get help. Never blame or punish the child or show anger. Control your emotions. Your reaction to the abuse might be viewed as directed toward the child, assure the child that you are not angry at them. Do Not Take Notes while the child is talking to you. Listen intently and afterwards quickly document the disclosure. If you are an employee or volunteer and hear of the abuse, immediately report the incident to your supervisor, but remember that this doesnt remove your obligation to report the incident to the proper authorities. If you represent the organization at which the abuse occurred, you must report the childs disclosure to law enforcement or child protective agency as specified by the laws in your particular state.

“Follow-Up! If you report it to a higher authority, supervisor or report it to law enforcement make sure you follow up to see that the problem is being addressed.”

If it was easy to prevent child sexual abuse, it wouldnt be such a widespread epidemic, points out Dymer. As a result of the Penn State scandal schools, organizations and groups specializing in providing youth services are now focused on the importance of carefully conducting background screens on all volunteers and hires who will come into contact with children and youth.

All organizations, including non profits, must establish a clearly defined child sexual abuse prevention checklist and should learn about the Diana Screen

A Silent Voice Provides Vital Information Right at Your Fingertips

Sheboygan, WI (PRWEB) October 30, 2012

With the number of high profile stories of missing people seemingly more frequent in the last month, more national awareness has been brought to this troubling issue. The statistics are alarming. According to the FBI, nearly 1,800 Americans are reported missing every day. While this number includes both juveniles and adults, most of those missing are under 18 years of age.

A progressive new service launched this month now provides the silent voice for loved ones suffering the anguish of a missing family member. IfIGoMissing.com provides users with a secure and user-friendly interface to store important information. In the event that a child or adult goes missing, a designated user can login and report the loved one as missing, and provide the contact information to law enforcement immediately.

The online service makes it easy for families to put all of the important information in a secure place. This is more of a proactive approach, said Jeremy Reynolds, founder of IfIGoMissing.com. The site is a means for you to store all of the information that the police would want to have at their fingertips.

At a time when emotions run high and concern for the loved one overtakes logical thought, this is the silent voice that does the talking. The type of information that can be stored on IfIGoMissing.com varies from hair and eye color to nicknames, the user can select what goes into the server, which uses high-performance encryption methods to secure the information.

Providing this important data to law enforcement in a timely manner can mean the difference in quickly locating a lost loved one. The first 24 hours are the most critical, but for the police the first 24 seconds are the most critical, said Reynolds.

About If I Go Missing

IfIGoMissing.com is a proactive approach to protecting loved ones. The service provides users with a secure interface to store important information such as medical and dental records, as well as identification and technological information. Once a missing person report is filed, the information gets transmitted to the police. For more information, please visit the website or info(at)ifigomissing(dot)com.

London Private Investigator Responds to Recent Article Published by BBC Education and Family News: Separated fathers to gain legal right to see children

(PRWEB UK) 12 November 2012

A letter to MPs from the Childrens Minister, Edward Timpson announced the proposed changes to child access laws in 2013. The letter states that both parents should have the chance to play a positive role in their childrens lives when it is safe and in their best interests. This is good news for fathers rights groups but seen as unnecessary by legal experts.

The main concern is for the welfare of the children involved and many believe that the current legislation adequately provides the right protection but others believe the legislation is preventing families from enjoying a meaningful relationship with both parents after divorce or separation.

London Private Investigators is often called upon to conduct matrimonial and family investigations. Family investigations can often contain surveillance sessions to watch children who are part of a separated family that are visiting a parent they do not live with. We are asked to ensure that the child or children are safe and that they are well cared for.

A spokesperson from London Private Investigators said:

We have carried out surveillance on many family visits where the parent and child clearly have a valuable, meaningful and loving relationship. These are the people I feel will benefit from the new changes in the law

London Private Investigators along with their sister company UK Private Investigators is a team of highly trained professional and discreet private investigators and detectives with over 35 years experience in the industry. Their understanding and approachable team of male and female detectives are available 24/7 to conduct matrimonial, corporate and private investigations.

Life Insurance Tips: Reasons to Buy Right Now

(PRWEB) November 28, 2012

Many people believe they dont need life insurance, but for everyone there is at least one good reason to take out a policy. InsuranceHotline.coms life insurance buying tips make it clear what the reasons are and why delaying can be a big mistake.

Young People Get Better Rates

The younger the person applying for a life insurance policy, the lower the rate they will qualify for. Every year of delay can mean higher rates as the risk of health problems increases. Insurance companies give the best rates to people who represent the lowest risk of a claim. When it comes to life insurance, that means people who are young and healthy.

“When taking out a permanent life insurance policy, those who are young can lock in a low premium and have coverage that will last a lifetime” says Tammy Ezer of InsuranceHotline.com. Rates are typically better on term policies as well. Lower premiums are a good reason to buy now.

Protecting Loved Ones

Even in a family where both parents make a good living, its hard these days for anyone to get by as a single parent. For those who have children, those kids are the top reason to buy life insurance now. And its not only for the breadwinner; a homemaker needs a policy too. Consider the cost of child care in the event that a working parent suddenly has to pay for it.

Raising children is expensive, and life insurance ensures that a sudden death doesnt force them to give up their lifestyle and dreams. It can keep them in their home, pay for school and activities, and keep good food on the table. It means stability in an unstable time.

Health Changes Happen

Even a person who is healthy now can be struck by an unexpected illness, and after that illness strikes it is much harder to get life insurance. Thinking that health problems are not going to happen until old age can be a big mistake. Young people are diagnosed with cancer and other terminal illnesses every day. And it doesnt have to be a terminal illness. Things like high blood pressure or diabetes can reduce the ability to qualify for insurance and also raise the rates.

Good health is a good reason to take out a policy now healthy people get better rates, and a sudden change in health status cant affect the rate once the policy has been issued.

Everyone Has Final Expenses

Even those who have nothing else to plan for financially will still have final expenses, and those can be a major burden on grieving relatives. A life insurance policy takes that one burden away and allows your loved ones to move forward without the strain of more bills.

No one wants to think about death, but it happens every day in unexpected ways. Life insurance provides for those left behind, and making a difficult time easier may well be the main reason everyone should obtain a policy right away. Take the time to obtain life insurance quotes and know your options.

About: InsuranceHotline.com is a free online insurance rate comparison service that directs consumers to its large network of more than 30 insurance companies and licensed insurance professionals and provides quotes based on the lowest rates available through its network. In business since 1994, InsuranceHotline.com does not sell insurance, is not a licensed broker, and is not owned in whole or in part by an insurance company, agent or brokerage; ensuring consumers get a truly unbiased quote.

De La Rue- Facing the Right Direction

(PRWEB) September 13, 2007

De La Rue announces the AutoFacer module for the CPS1200-2000 family of banknote sorters. The patented technology marks the first time that users of ultra high speed banknote sorting equipment have been able to automatically face their notes on-line without compromising machine speed or productivity.

The AutoFacer is designed for cash providers who need to deliver faced banknotes to their end customers. It enables the facing procedure to be carried out at lower cost than has previously been possible, whilst reducing the overall physical size of the hardware now required to complete the process by up to 30%. The module can be fitted to new CPS machines or as an upgrade for existing users.

The requirement to face banknotes may be based on Central Banks’ internal processes or legislation; or indeed on cultural acceptance of how notes should be received from self service dispensers, such as ATM’s. Irrespective of the rationale, De La Rue has recognised that there is a need to provide customers, across the globe, with the facility to face banknotes as required.

Prior to the development of the AutoFacer customers would need to run batches of banknotes through a sorter twice in order to authenticate and then face. This required the operators to prepare batches of banknotes and process them twice, which was a time consuming process. With the advent of AutoFacer two parallel belt paths are introduced in the hardware’s transport. The sorter will now detect if a banknote is unfaced, and automatically divert the banknote down the secondary belt where it is turned before being merged back into the mainstream and sent to its destination pocket; all in a time saving single pass.

Head of Pre-sales and Product Management, Ed Brindley, states, “The AutoFacer enables customers who need to face banknotes to dramatically reduce the volume of notes in the second pass, allowing cash centre staff to consistently meet their processing deadlines. This in turn reduces the pressures on each cash centre’s shift pattern and improves the efficiency of the overall operation.”

Managing Director of De La Rue’s Cash Processing Solutions division, Sanjay Razdan, adds, “We believe that the AutoFacer is a great example of De La Rue’s ability to react to industry needs and produce innovative products that not only meet market requirements but also deliver real efficiencies and process improvements for our customers.”

Autofacer Q and A

How does it work?

The AutoFacer introduces two parallel belt paths into the transport. If a note is detected as faced it is diverted down a straight belt path to its destination pocket. If it is detected as unfaced it is sent through a secondary belt path that turns the note over. The note, now faced, is merged back into the main stream and sent to its destination pocket.

Can machines be upgraded?

Yes, all De La Rue CPS machines in the field can be upgraded.

What are the benefits of the AutoFacer?

The AutoFacer allows facing of notes without needing extra pockets. In a non-facing machine 2 pockets must be allocated, one for face A and one for face B. With the AutoFacer only one pocket would be required per denomination.

With AutoFacer machine footprint, cost and complexity is reduced.

Where is the AutoFacer housed?

The AutoFacer is mounted in a dedicated 24″ extension module. The machine length is therefore increased by this distance. However, the 5 pocket mid module that it will replace is 60″, giving a 3′ overall saving in machine length. This is becoming increasingly important as customers seek smaller footprint machines.

Is machine speed compromised?

No, the AutoFacer is fully tested to run at 2000 notes per minute. Machine productivity is not affected.

What are the naming conventions for AutoFacer machines?

The AutoFacer will be denoted by an AF suffix to the machine, e.g.

CPS1200/5/4 AF

CPS1800/10/6 AF

When is it available?

The AutoFacer is available with immediate effect.

A video clip showing the operation is also available for download on request.
