Drawing from their own upbringing, authors Ron Berlettano and Sonia Morgante mix fantasy with reality and open a door to the heart and mind of a child who is struggling to become an adolescent in Spotless.
In Spotless, a beautiful and equally bright ladybug named Ruby finds her relationship with her domineering, over protective mother extremely trying. When a cute boy moves in next door, Ruby’s mother is determined to keep her daughter away from him. Despite her mother’s wishes, Ruby befriends the new neighbor, and as a result, her life, along with the lives of those closest to her, takes a turn for the better.
Ultimately, the actions of Ruby’s mother impart a valuable lesson to readers. In her mind, she believed she could keep Ruby safe by building a barricade between her daughter and the world, but in reality, all she created was a wall between herself and her daughter. The authors suggest that in spite of wanting to keep children out of harm’s way, it is better for parents to act as a guide for their children rather than make choices for them. The story also shows that allowing children to learn from their mistakes and personal experiences will make them stronger.
The central theme of Spotless is more than relevant in today’s society, where parents are continuously raising arms to protect their children from the evils of the world, while their children eagerly crave independence and freedom. Fun-filled and dazzlingly illustrated, Spotless offers spot-on entertainment and life lessons for readers of all ages.
For more information or to request a free review copy, members of the press can contact Ron Berlettano or Sonia Morgante. Spotless is available for sale online at Amazon.com, BookSurge.com, and through additional wholesale and retail channels worldwide.

ProtectMyID.com a leading, full-service provider of identity theft detection, protection and fraud resolution, today announced Internet ID Theft Protection tips. If consumers spend any kind of time online they’re probably concerned about security; and rightfully so. Whether it is e-commerce, personal banking, bill paying or social networking, sooner or later consumers run the risk of exposing themselves to internet identity theft.
Ironically enough, the best line of defense against identity theft attacks is the one thing people give the least amount of thought to: their username/ password combination. Statistically, most people create username/password combo’s that are easy to remember. They tend to be associated with obvious personal data, like:
A partner, child, or pet’s name, sometimes followed by a 0 or 1
The last 4 digits of a social security number
Numerical sequences like 1,2,3,4
The word password
Hometown, city, college, favorite sports team
Date of birth – partner’s or child’s
The fact that most people use the same username and password for all their online accounts only compounds the danger of http://www.protectmyid.com/default.aspx?PageTypeID=HomePage17&SiteVersionID=815&SiteID=100302&sc=669082&bcd=semidtprw210408ts01 internet ID theft. If a hacker can hijack one password, they instantly have access to your other accounts. This can lead to identity theft, http://www.protectmyid.com/default.aspx?PageTypeID=HomePage17&SiteVersionID=815&SiteID=100302&sc=669082&bcd=semidtprw210408ts03 credit card fraud and a huge headache for consumers.
Consider this: password hijackers will go through trash, mail or the pages of social networking sites to dig up the info they need to crack a password. In fact, social networking sites are a key source for this kind of personal information. In spite of this level of personal invasion, there are still some very simple techniques consumers can practice to help protect password:
Indiscriminately trade out numbers and symbols for letters: h@ck3rs
Random caps are also an effective technique: h@Ck3Rs
Use something from the past: a random place, a favorite toy, etc. Don’t use names of friends or classmates, old address or phone numbers.
Vary username/password combinations among accounts.
Unfortunately, even if consumers follow all these techniques, they could still be hit by a brute force attack. This is where password hijackers use specifically designed software to crack security. This software is free and readily available online, so little can be done to stop this kind http://www.protectmyid.com/default.aspx?PageTypeID=HomePage17&SiteVersionID=815&SiteID=100302&sc=669082&bcd=semidtprw210408ts01 internet ID theft.

Sadness, fear, confusion, and hope mark the foster experience for thousands of children across North America. Foster children can be better prepared for the transition by reading Theresa Ann Fraser’s “Billy Had to Move” (ISBN 9781932690873, Loving Healing Press, 2009).
“Billy Had to Move” tells the story of seven-year old Billy’s placement in a foster home. With the help of Child Protection Services, Billy has been happily settled in a kinship placement with his grandma. He enjoys his pet cat, interacting with the neighbors, and even taking piano lessons. But when Billy’s grandmother passes away unexpectedly and his mother cannot be located, Billy’s social worker, Mr. Murphy, has to place him in a foster home.
Billy’s new home consists of Amy, Tim, and their baby, Colly. While Billy’s foster family wants to make him feel like part of the family, Billy finds the adjustment difficult. Not only does Billy mourn his grandmother, but he also misses the life he knew at his grandmother’s house. With help from his foster parents and his play therapist, Ms. Woods, Billy learns to adjust and be happy in his new home.
Theresa Anne Fraser wrote “Billy Had to Move” so children would understand the foster care situation as they transitioned into it. She wanted children to know there are caring people they will meet who are committed to their welfare, including foster parents, therapists, and social workers. The introduction of play therapy in the book prepares children for visiting a therapist and realizing therapy is not a frightening experience but one that can help them understand and adjust to a new home. Alex Walton’s colorful illustrations will make the story all the more attractive to children. “Billy Had to Move” is like a friend to the child who may feel alone and lost before the foster care transition.
Experts in childcare and psychology applaud the usefulness of “Billy Had to Move.” Gisela Schubach De Domenico, PhD, MFT, R-PTS says, “This gem of a bookoffers a sacred space that compassionately holds and supports the multidimensional realities of our foster children and their birth families, our social workers and foster families, our teachers and child psychotherapists.” Mark E. Hulbert, MA, LLP appreciates that “The bookprovides insight into how powerful the experience can be when the child has an opportunity to explore their trauma in the sandtray.” Athena A. Drewes, Director of Clinical Training at The Astor Home for Children states, “This is a much-needed book for foster care childrenIt offers a welcoming view of how children’s worries and losses can be understood by a caring Play Therapist, in a warm and inviting setting.” And Charles E. Schaefer, Director Emeritus for the Association for Play Therapy describes “Billy Had to Move” as an “engaging, warm-hearted storyHighly recommended!”

Smart Horizons Career Online High School(SHCOHS) opened last May with the specific intention to help adults in our nation who have not completed a high school education. This is a significant population, and now more than ever, with jobs being scarce, a high school diploma, coupled with a career certificate is critical. The schools goal is to quickly and in a cost effective manner provide students the education they need so they can compete in the work force. SHCOHSs inaugural cohort of students is finishing up their graduation requirements. These students are encouraged about the opportunities that will now be available to them.
Betsaida Marrero is one of these students. Marrero is a twenty-four year old, single mother of three. She is completing the education process that was interrupted after her tenth-grade year by the birth of her first child. It was hard to go back to school after I had the baby, Marrero said. You have to make a lot of decisions when you become a parent and I decided I needed to work for my child, but I never lost the dream of completing my education. I am now able to work on this goal thanks to the Smart Horizons Career Online High School program. I can do it on my own time and in my home, which is very convenient. Taking online high school courses works extremely well with my busy schedule.
In addition to earning her high school diploma, Marrero is also completing course work for a career certificate in office management through the Smart Horizons Career Online High School program.
I completely love the way the program is designed, Marrero said. I am able to understand everything very well, and I also love the fact that I am able to finish high school and get a career certificate as well.
Marrero said that the SHCOHS program is helpful because it allows her to both read and hear all the information she needs on a given topic. She also likes the way the program helps her to understand a topic by showing her the parts of the topic she did not understand.
Just knowing that Im accomplishing this goal to finish school helps me to know that I can look forward to a brighter future both mentally and economically, Marrero said.
Another student, Vaughn Jones is about to celebrate her 50th birthday, but shes already giving herself a valuable gift by obtaining the high school diploma that eluded her so many years ago. Smart Horizons Career Online High School is making it possible.
Smart Horizons Career Online High School is giving me the opportunity to obtain something Ive been trying to get since 1978, Jones said, referring to that high school diploma. Jones, who lives in Pahokee, Florida, is also completing course work for a career certificate in Childcare & Education. The ability to earn online high school credits has helped simplify her life.
I started out with the career certificate part of the program and Im almost done with that, Jones said. Ive just started the high school classes and I think this is going to be the most interesting part. Its a good program and I especially like the math courses.
Jones, who is married and has four grown children, said it was hanging with the wrong crowd that cost her high school diploma in her youth. I was trying to fit in and I let myself be influenced, she said. Jones completed the eleventh grade, but left school shortly after starting her senior year.
Getting this accredited online diploma is going to give me more opportunities than Ive had, Jones said. Most jobs require a high school diploma and this is going to open doors for me.

Atlantic Information Services, Inc. (AIS) — AIS, publisher of industry-leading newsletters, AIS’s Health Reform Week, Health Plan Week, Drug Benefit News, Report on Medicare Compliance and ACO Business News, is pleased to announce its newest publication, A Guide to Health Insurance Reform. The guide and its accompanying CD include an extremely well-organized set of all pertinent regulations, with HHS guidance and insights from experts. Go to http://www.aishealth.com/Products/lhrg.html for publication details.
When the rulemaking process has finally run its course years from now, more than 25 separate sets of federal rules will have been issued to address just the aspects of reform that deal with health insurance benefit design. Regulations dealing with these issues have already been published: rescissions, appeals and external reviews, coverage of preventive services, child-only coverage, lifetime and annual limits, access to care protections, grandfathered plan status, dependent coverage to age 26 and early retiree reinsurance.
Furthermore, 15-20 additional sets of rules still to come — from medical loss ratios to insurance exchanges to age bands and gender bias — are set in stone by the reform statute. And in 2011 and beyond, there may well be additional changes heaped on top of this year’s enormous changes, if the politics of reform shift and/or Congress goes back to fix flaws in the original legislation.
A Guide to Health Insurance Reform is designed to help health plans, hospitals and other providers, employers, pharmaceutical companies and others save valuable time and resources — and minimize their risks of costly noncompliance — with easy-to-read summaries of federal regulations that are interwoven with Agency Guidance and Commentary and Analysis from experts in the field in 28 different regulatory areas related to:
— Benefit Design
— Eligibility/Guaranteed Issue
— Premium Rules
— And Health Insurance Administration

Los Angeles (PRWEB) December 4, 2010
“There are many charities that one can donate to during this holiday season. But without any doubt, perhaps the most important organization, such as the USO, are those which physically protects our lives, our homes and our sacred values of democracy,” said Richard Maize.
Richard Maize is one of the worlds most successful and respected businessmen. Maize also directs the Rochelle and Richard Maize Foundation a philanthropic organization that supports, contributes volunteer and financial resources to causes locally in the LA community and worldwide supporting programs focusing on art, culture, sports, family services and health care that work to help people live more fulfilling lives.
“The USO is truly a fantastic organization. I had no idea what they did before my visit today. I can mainly speak for the LAX USO. I found the USO is a safe haven for servicemen and women both current the retired. It is a place for these soldiers to either rest, shower, watch a movie, eat a snack or use the computers. Often soldiers come in from all around the world and need a place to wait, congregate or simply rest. All of the above is done here,” says Richard Maize.
The USO mission is to provide morale, welfare and recreation-type services to uniformed military personnel. There are over 120 USO Centers around the world serving thousands of brave US troops in the Marines, Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force stationed from California and New York to Iraq and Afghanistan.
“On the day and time I visited there were not any soldiers in uniform. Apparently, many go to USO Centers during a transition,” says Maize. “Let me tell you what I learned from Ismael Martinez who is the Chief of Naval Operations. He was there awaiting the arrival of certain wounded or sick sailors from the US Coast Guard.”
Maize continues: “I discovered that the USO also sponsors ‘wounded worrier games’ which takes a certain number or wounded soldiers from the Navy, Air Force, Marines and Army to participate in Olympic style games in Port Hueneme.”
“I lived during the time that we, as young people were trying to figure out how to deal with Vietnam. I was so very concerned about fighting a war on the other side of the world that I had no real knowledge of our strategies or how in the world we are going to win that one.”
“Since that time, our brave servicemen and women have shown the US who they are and who we are as a nation. I am proud to be an American who stands up for justice. Our whole country rallied in retaliation to 9/11, much like when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. We rallied together with more mutual American love than we showed each other for many decades. The other countries around the world supported our efforts to preserve democracy and freedom. It was a great moment in a horrible time.”
Richard Maize concludes: “The USO survives mainly on contributions. I was more than pleased to participate through my foundation to provide funds for the USO. It was truly a fulfilling experience. And to improve upon the morale of soldiers is enable them to be that more effective in defending the home land. What could be more important?”
“I think the world of the USO and our men and women in the US armed forces. They are selfless and I view them with great honor and praise. Great work you men and women in uniform. Hope you all have a safe holiday wherever you are and come home safe and sound.”
Supporting Americas troops was the first mission of the USO. In 1941, as it became clear that the nation was heading into World War II, several organizations mobilized to support the growing U.S. military: the Salvation Army, Young Mens Christian Association, Young Womens Christian Association, National Catholic Community Services, National Travelers Aid Association and the National Jewish Welfare Board.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt created synergy among these agencies by forming the United Service Organizations, with the objective of providing the emotional support the troops needed.
Over time, the USO has evolved, developing new programs and services to meet the ever-changing needs of the troops and their families, while holding fast to the original mission.
Today, the USO continues to lift the spirits of Americas troops and their families, and will continue to be there for them until every one comes home.
Richard Maize, who also serves as mentor to recent college graduates, established the Rochelle and Richard Maize Foundation a philanthropic organization that supports, contributes volunteer and financial resources to causes locally in the LA community and worldwide supporting programs focusing on art, culture, sports, family services and health care that work to help people live more fulfilling lives.
Richard Maize has generously supported a variety of organizations and causes including the American Cancer Society, Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services, Hurricane Katrina, Los Angeles Police Foundation, the Beverly Hills Police and Fire Department, the USO, the Cedars Sinai Board of Governors, Israel Flying Aid in earthquake devastated Haiti and the Maccabiah Sports Games in Israel.
Richard Maize and his wife, Rochelle Maize, are longtime benefactors of many other non-profit local organizations in LA and globally where Richard has been recognized for his humanitarian efforts on behalf of dozens of charitable groups and community projects.

Minneapolis, Minnesota (PRWEB) September 01, 2011
As a local Minneapolis Windshield Repair company, we talk to many parents this time of the year who are busy getting everything ready to send their student off to school. With so many things to do, sometimes the vehicle gets over looked. Many college students will be moving away from home for the first time, so it would be a good idea to get that damaged windshield repaired or replaced, windshield wiper blades installed and to make sure the car is in good working order.
“Driving with a cracked or broken windshield is another form of distracted driving, and is illegal in many states including Minnesota.” Says Rick Rosar, President of Rapid Glass who services customers in Minneapolis, St Paul and surrounding suburbs,”Depending on your insurance coverage, many windshield repairs or replacements are covered without any deductible or out of pocket expense to you In fact, even if you have a deductible, many insurers will waive it if you have the windshield repaired, rather than replaced.”
Replacing windshield wipers helps to ensure your child’s safety and it’s easy to do yourself. Many auto glass companies will also replace your windshield wipers at the same time they repair or replace your windshield. Don’t wait until it’s pouring rain or your student is caught in a Minnesota snow storm. With so many distractions out there, trying to see through their windshield shouldn’t be one of them.
Tuning up the engine should be done on a regular basis anyways, so doing it now is as good a time as any. Changing the oil, as well as replacing the fuel and air filters are essential in keeping a car running smoothly and are also some of the least expensive things you can do to prolong the life of a car. It’s much easier to control the cost now instead of having your student break down on the road somewhere and be at the mercy of a mechanic that may charge you more than their tuition or books for the semester.
A visual inspection is one of the cheapest and easiest things to do. Tires can become worn; belts and hoses can crack and should be replaced before it’s too late. Checking the brakes can be as easy as removing a tire, and if youre not comfortable with doing it yourself, many repair shops will do some of these inspections at no charge. Make sure you check and replace any burned out taillights, brake lights or headlamps. Not having all your running lights working could also cost them an expensive traffic ticket.
It’s always a good idea to keep an Emergency kit in the trunk. Chances are your student has always been a short distance away if they had car problems, if they are going off to college, this may not be the case. The first thing you want to check is that they have a good spare tire and working jack. A small tool kit for making some basic repairs including a flashlight, tow strap and jumper cables could make the difference of being stranded and being able to make it home in time to get rested up for that big test the next day.A first aid kit is a good thing to include for those minor cuts and scrapes that may occur while traveling.
Many college students will be far away from home and may be traveling in uncharted territory. One of the best devices that have come along since the compass was invented is a GPS (Global Positioning System)The price has come way down on these in recent years. Most kids have mobile phones these days (which is another great safety device) and many new smart phones have a GPS service included for no additional charge. At the very least make sure they have a good map or map book to navigate through their new surroundings.
Going off to college or just beginning a new school year can be very costly and stressful for both you and your student. In todays economy with fuel prices on the rise, an ounce of prevention now can save you a pound of trouble down the road. Protecting your most prized possession should be first and foremost, and keeping their car running smoothly is a great start.
For 25 years, Rapid Glass has been one of Minnesota’s premier windshield repair and windshield replacement companies providing Quality Same Day Mobile Service. Our Customer Service Representatives are well-trained windshield claims specialists. Rapid Glass will handle all of the paperwork and assist the customer with reporting their loss to ensure they are getting the full benefits their insurance policy provides.

Millions of parents are sending their kids back to school, making it a perfect time for parents to sit down with their children and discuss the rules of using technology both at school and at home. Tim Woda, an Internet and child safety expert and co-founder of uKnow.com, a provider of parental intelligence systems, is offering parents the following tips to help their kids have a great school year:
