ReCellular Named Exclusive Cell Phone Recycling Partner for Consumer Cellular

Dexter, Mich. (PRWEB) November 4, 2007

ReCellular Inc., the world’s foremost collector, reseller and recycler of used cell phones and accessories, today announced it has entered into a partnership with Oregon-based Consumer Cellular, one of the oldest and largest mobile virtual network operators, to collect wireless handsets for recycling from their customers across the country. Proceeds from the new program will benefit Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, the oldest full-service children’s hospital in Oregon.

The cell phone recycling program features a unique pre-paid, take home mailer that allows Consumer Cellular customers to mail their used and/or unwanted cell phones directly to ReCellular for recycling or reuse. In addition, customers can take their used cell phones to Consumer Cellular for drop off in on-site collection boxes. Proceeds from the program will go directly to benefit the children’s hospital and help meet the special needs of children seeking medical attention.

“As one of the industry’s largest and oldest mobile virtual network operators, Consumer Cellular is thrilled to have partnered with ReCellular to launch a customized cell phone recycling program. From an environmental standpoint, we believe it is critical that our customers have an easy way to properly dispose of their old cellular phones. With our program, customers simply place the phone in an envelope and drop it in the mail. There is no cost and very little effort required. And the fact that Consumer Cellular and our customers can also support such a worthy cause as Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in the process is simply amazing,” said John Marick, President, Consumer Cellular.

Companies and consumers alike are facing increased pressure to diminish their environmental impact. Consumer Cellular and ReCellular offer a trusted, environmentally responsible option for disposing of unused cell phones. ReCellular is certified to ISO 14001 certification. Approximately half of the phones collected will be reused — considered the ultimate form of cell phone recycling. These phones are reconditioned and reprogrammed before being sold to wholesalers from more than 40 countries. Used cell phones that cannot be resold are dismantled and recycled under ReCellular’s corporate “zero landfill” policy.

Protect the environment and help heal a child at Doernbecher today. Recycle your used cell phone at any Consumer Cellular location or visit ConsumerCellular.com to print a pre-paid shipping label!

Confidant Solutions and Our Military Kids Partner to Promote Family Protection While Supporting Military Families

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) November 3, 2009

Confidant Solutions Inc. and Our Military Kids today announced a joint promotion beginning on Veterans Day, November 11, 2009, and continuing through January 10, 2010. The campaign is aimed at raising funds for grants that will be awarded during the month of April, 2010, in celebration of the Month of the Military Child.

Our Military Kids is a rapidly growing, innovative non-profit that addresses important gaps in support for the children of National Guard, Reserve, and severely injured military personnel. When a military parent is deployed overseas or recovering from severe injury at home, extracurricular activities become all the more important for keeping kids involved and on track. More than 85,000 children are affected by the deployment of a National Guard or Reserve parent and over 60% of these families live further than 25 miles from a military installation. Consequently, the numerous programs and support services provided on bases are not an option for many Guard and Reserve families. Our Military Kids enables Guard and Reserve children to participate in any extracurricular program that they choose, giving children the freedom to pursue their own interests in athletics, academics, or the arts in the community in which they live. Our Military Kids has awarded over 13,000 grants totaling $ 4.8 million and is growing as awareness of its mission spreads.

Confidant Solutions Inc. provides an innovative, secure online technology that protects families by addressing an important gap in family information: that family members frequently do not know the information that would be needed in case of emergency, and have no easy, secure way to share such information. Confidant makes available readily online information such as the location of vital documents, contact details for key people, the institutions where accounts and policies are held, and location of important objects, using an intuitive icon-driven interface with bank-standard security. Confidant is easier than an electronic vault because it does not require uploading or managing electronic documents; users simply enter relevant details such as document location and key contacts, and then share this critical information with designated “confidants” by granting them customized permissions to view selected details. Confidants can be added or deleted, or their access permissions changed, at any time.

Confidant and Our Military Kids have collaborated because of the philosophical alignment of their missions: protecting families by providing innovative solutions to address important gaps. The American public recognizes the need to protect their own families, as well as the special needs of military families who are making sacrifices on behalf of all of us says Confidant founder Samuel Sandy Haviland. We are very pleased to partner with Our Military Kids in promoting a way that families can serve both needs, by donating a portion of their Confidant subscriptions to help fund grants for military children. Mary Carolyn Voght, Director of Special Projects for Our Military Kids, says Its a great way to give back to those who are sacrificing to make our nation a better place for us all.

The larger the number of Confidant subscriptions, the larger the number of grants that will be funded in April to support the children of deployed Guard and Reserve personnel and the children of severely injured service members. Confidant can be found online at http://www.beconfidant.com and users can ensure support of the Our Military Kids grant program by entering the promotional code OMK at the time of their subscriptions.

About Confidant Solutions Inc.

Confidant Solutions Inc. provides secure technology for tracking and sharing vital personal information to protect families with a system that helps ensure access to information by those who would need it. Confidant subscriptions are available online, or can be obtained through various channel partners. Please visit http://www.beconfidant.com for further information about the company and ConfidantTM.

About Our Military Kids

NBA Cares and United Nations Foundation Partner to Launch Send A Net. Save A Life. See A Game. Presented By HP

New York, NY (Vocus) December 15, 2009

Today, the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the United Nations Foundations Nothing But Nets tipped off a promotion–Send a Net. Save a Life. See a Game. presented by HP–to send anti-malaria bed nets to refugees in 11 African countries. The effort is part of the NBA Cares Season of Giving and runs through January 31, 2010. Starting today, NBA fans can log on to http://www.NothingButNets.net to donate $ 10 or more and get two complimentary tickets to an NBA game, subject to availability.

Send a Net. Save a Life. See a Game. encourages NBA fans and Nothing But Nets supporters to send life-saving bed nets to displaced families in Africa to help protect them from malaria, the number one killer of refugees on the continent. The promotion will also help the United Nations Foundation’s Nothing But Nets, in partnership with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), reach its goal of protecting more than one million refugees in Africa from malaria this year.

Thanks to the commitment of the NBA, our partners, and supporters, weve already covered more than 600,000 refugees with bed nets in eastern Africa this year alone, said Nothing But Nets Director Adrianna Logalbo. Now we hope the NBA and its fans can help us exceed our goal to protect more than one million of the worlds most vulnerable people as the need for these life-saving nets is far from over.

ESPN sportswriter Rick Reilly, who inspired the United Nations Foundation to create the Nothing But Nets campaign through his May 2006 Sports Illustrated column, will match fan donations — net for net — up to a total of $ 25,000.

This tremendous effort aligns with the NBAs long tradition of addressing important health and wellness issues worldwide, said NBA Executive Vice President Social Responsibility and Player Programs Kathy Behrens. We know our fans care about these causes as passionately as the NBA, and we are proud to provide them the opportunity to make a life-saving donation as part of the NBA Cares Season of Giving.

Long-lasting, insecticide-treated bed nets are one of the easiest and most cost-effective methods of preventing the diseases spread. They create a protective barrier against mosquitoes at night, when the vast majority of malaria transmissions occur. One bed net can protect a family of four, and lasts three to five years. It costs just $ 10 to purchase, deliver, and educate the recipient on its proper use.

To date, Nothing But Nets has raised close to $ 30 million and has sent nearly three million nets to children, pregnant women, and refugees throughout Africa. To learn more about Nothing But Nets or to make your life-saving donation, log on to http://www.NothingButNets.net.

JDC, U.S. Fund For UNICEF Partner to Protect Haitian Children

New York, NY (Vocus) October 19, 2010

Responding to the critical needs of vulnerable Haitian children, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and the U.S. Fund for UNICEF have announced their first major partnership aimed at providing secure spaces and activities for the devastated island’s youngsters. JDC will support UNICEFs Child Friendly Spaces program which builds safe and protective environments throughout Haiti for children who have lost homes, families, and communities in the earthquake.

Our work in Haiti — and in other disaster-plagued areas of the world — has taught us about the absolute importance of protecting children in need. Together with UNICEF, we will continue our long tradition of building schools, community centers and innovative spaces that give children facing despair the promise and drive to rebuild and thrive, said JDC CEO Steven Schwager.

The JDC-U.S. Fund for UNICEF partnership helps ensure the construction and maintenance of new Child Friendly Spaces in urban and rural areas throughout Haiti. These spaces provide between 250-400 children (per space) with recreational and educational activities, as well as structured psycho-social support and protection from trafficking, abuse, and exploitation.

“We are very proud that this groundbreaking partnership harnesses the vast expertise of the worlds leading Jewish humanitarian organization together with UNICEF, which has been saving childrens lives since 1946. With a shared history of helping children, it is heartening that we could work together to improve the lives of Haitian children,” said U.S. Fund for UNICEF President and CEO Caryl Stern.

In addition to their global work for children, both organizations also operate offices and programming for children at risk in Israel. Most recently, UNICEF helped provide counseling and trauma services for children under rocket attack in Kiryat Shmona and in Sderot.

JDC’s non-sectarian disaster relief programs are funded by special appeals of the Jewish Federations of North America and tens of thousands of individual donors to JDC. JDC coordinates its activities in Haiti with the U.S. Department of State, USAID, the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Israeli relief agencies, and the United Nations, and local Haitian NGO’s. JDC relief efforts are part of its International Development Program (IDP), which provides immediate relief and long-term assistance to victims of natural and manmade disasters.

About JDC

The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) is the worlds leading Jewish humanitarian assistance organization. JDC works in more than 70 countries and in Israel to alleviate hunger and hardship, rescue Jews in danger, create lasting connections to Jewish life, and provide immediate relief and long-term development support for victims of natural and man-made disasters. To learn more, visit http://www.JDC.org.

About UNICEF

UNICEF has saved more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization in the world. Working in more than 150 countries, UNICEF provides children with health care, clean water, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF supports UNICEF’s work through fundraising, advocacy, and education in the United States.

UNICEF is at the forefront of efforts to reduce child mortality worldwide. There has been substantial progress: the annual number of under-five deaths dropped from 13 million in 1990 to 8.8 million in 2008. But still, 22,000 children die each day from preventable causes. Our mission is to do whatever it takes to make that number zero by giving children the essentials for a safe and healthy childhood. For more information, visit http://www.unicefusa.org.
