2008 Was a Year of Giving Back

Denver, CO (PRWEB) March 3, 2009

Family law attorney and managing partner Rich Harris of The Harris Law Firm encourages his 12 family law attorneys and the firms’ staff members to maintain a strong commitment to the community by volunteering. The firms’ dedication was reflected in the many ways everyone at the firm donated their time in 2008.

Below is a list of the organizations that provided The Harris Law Firm with an opportunity to “give back”:

Boo! New Jersey Cosmetic Dentist Offering Cash for Candy This Halloween and Giving Back to Our Soldiers Oversees

Spring Lake, NJ (Vocus) October 28, 2009

One cosmetic dentist in Monmouth County, New Jersey is helping kids protect their teeth and giving back to U.S. soldiers oversees this Halloween. Dr. Peter Ciampi and Spring Lake Dental Care are participating in the Halloween Candy Buy Back program, an event growing in popularity across the country. For $ 1 per pound, Dr. Ciampi will pay trick-or-treaters to take this years candy haul off their hands then ship the treasure trove of sweets over to our men and women fighting in foreign lands. Kids are also encouraged to bring cards, drawings, and letters to the troops theyd like to send along with the candy.

Every year, kids across the globe consume about 2 percent more sugar than the last. With about 50 million tons of sugar being consumed annually, extra attention needs to be paid to make sure children are taking care of their teeth and gums to maintain oral health and prevent current and future dental problems. Moderating, or even staying away from candy altogether, can not only protect your child from broken teeth or damaged braces, it can also lessen the risk of developing weight problems or hyperactivity issues. And with the Halloween Candy Buy Back program, Dr. Peter Ciampi says children can get cash, protect their teeth, and contribute to a worthy cause all at the same time.

On Monday November 2nd from 3-6 pm, and Tuesday, November 3rd from 2-5pm, parents and their children can drop by Dr. Ciampis practice offering family and cosmetic dentistry in New Jersey. Candy will be weighed and Dr. Ciampi will pay $ 1 for every pound of sweets. After the candy is bought, Spring Lake Dental Care will ship the haul over to our soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Anyone can participate in the Halloween Candy Buy Back program, not just patients at Spring Lake Dental Care. Dr. Ciampi says the program covers so many worthy causes protecting young teeth and gums, giving something to our fighting men and women, and providing incentives for kids to stay away from too much sugar he looks forward to making Halloween Buyback an annual event.

And that may be enough to keep the little trick-or-treaters smiling for years to come.

AccuQuote Suggests Giving the Gift of Life Insurance on Valentines Day

Wheeling, IL (Vocus/PRWEB) February 14, 2011

Roses, heart-shaped candy and romantic dinners are some of the most common Valentines Day gestures, but what about life insurance? AccuQuote, a respected leader in providing term life insurance quotes to people across the United States, encourages going beyond the norm this holiday and giving a meaningful, selfless gift life insurance.

No familys financial plan is complete without life insurance. Unfortunately, 30 percent of U.S. households, a whopping 35 million, are without some type of life insurance protection, according to LIMRAs 2010 Life Insurance Ownership Study.

The number of people without life insurance is alarming, especially since life insurance is more important in todays economic climate than ever before, says Byron Udell, founder and CEO of AccuQuote. Life insurance may not be romantic, but it sure does express a very loving and heartfelt message.

Despite hitting a 50 year low in life insurance ownership, Americans expect to use life insurance more than all other sources of financial assets or income to help pay bills, and to maintain their lifestyle if the primary wage earner dies, according to LIMRA.

Following are reasons to purchase term life insurance this Valentines Day:

When It Comes To Gift Giving, New Blog JddigiBlog.com Makes It Personal

Chula Vista, California (PRWEB) October 05, 2011

Graphic designer, Jennifer Davis, is pleased to debut her brand new blog, JddigiBlog.com. The blog includes information regarding unique, personalized gift items that can be purchased through http://www.Jddigi.com.

The personalized gift items I offer provide a way for customers to make keepsakes out of their favorite photos or even childrens drawings, said Davis. I know so many of us struggle to find unique gifts for the people in our lives. I want to help people create gifts that are meaningful and specific to the intended receiver.

Capture precious moments and encapsulate them in silver plated jewelry. Moms are sure to love bangle bracelets, charm bracelets, or pendants emblazoned with their childrens smiling faces or school art projects. Instead of another tie for fathers day, consider personalized two sided dog tags or rings. A charming pewter wreath, round porcelain, or acrylic ornament customized with a family portrait makes a great addition to any Christmas tree. Other popular holiday photo gifts include key rings and statuettes. Names, dates, and sayings can be engraved, as well.

Planning a wedding reception, reunion, or other formal occasion? Customized wallet tin boxes, business card holders, or square bag tags make excellent party favors, as do backpack notepads. New homeowners will enjoy using personalized tumbled stone coaster sets given as a housewarming gift. Davis also specializes in designing team sports banners, posters, and wall clings. A child will get a kick out of having a life-sized image of them making the winning goal.

It was important to me not to have cheap jewelry with a persons photo slapped on it, said Davis. The image quality is stellar even on the tumbled stone items! The photo is literally part of the stone. You can get the jewelry wet without compromising the image. Everything is well protected.

Customer service is of the utmost importance at Jddigi.com. Each product has been screened for quality, aesthetics, and affordability. Davis, who has a background in graphic design, digitally transforms photographs and uses a professional color lab to ensure the integrity of the designs. Orders are shipped within five to seven business days. Feedback is always welcome; in fact, Davis strives to personally respond to all customer queries in a timely manner.

I work with each customer to make sure that their item is exactly the way they want it, said Davis. Customers always approve the design before it is created to make sure it is exactly to their specifications.

To learn more about the customization process, visit the sites brand new blog, http://www.JddigiBlog.com. Davis frequently updates the interactive platform with unique and meaningful gift ideas, in addition to product reviews.

Give the Gift of Giving Up Smoking This Christmas with Hypnosis

(PRWEB) December 13, 2011

Forget the latest toys and high tech gadgets – Hypnotherapy Directory has found that the best gift a parent can give their child this Christmas is to stop smoking. According to survey results from the online database of qualified hypnotherapists, 72% of parents who visited the site during November have been asked by their children to put a stop to the dangerous habit.

Study findings also show that well over half of all smokers surveyed by the directory (69%) had parents who smoked when they were children, adding further weight to already existing evidence which suggests children are far more likely to take up the habit if their parents are smokers.

According to NHS Smokefree, children who are exposed to a smoky atmosphere are more likely to suffer from chest infections, breathing problems and allergies than peers from non-smoking families – they are also more likely to be off sick from school more often.

The majority of parents are already well aware of the potential health risks smoking poses to their families, with 88% admitting to feeling concerned about the possible health implications their habit may be having on their children – but its not just parents who are worried…

In recent years children have also become far savvier and educated as to the dangers of smoking. As indicated by the number of children who have asked their mums and dads to quit it is no longer just parents who are trying to imprint an anti-smoking attitude on their offspring, but also children who are trying dissuade their parents.

A staggering 73%* of children worry about the risk of their mum or dad dying because of their habit, with many taking matters into their own hands by hiding their loved ones cigarettes in a bid to protect them**.

The survey results from Hypnotherapy Directory coincide with the second wave of a Department of Health advertising campaign aimed at getting loved ones to quit.

The campaign features real children from smoking families, discussing their concerns about their parents smoking, in the hope it will encourage them to quit.

Parents who are undecided about quitting and are teetering on the edge of beginning what will be an undoubtedly difficult journey, should use their family as a big incentive to go smoke free this Christmas.

From nicotine patches right through to support groups, there are numerous avenues of help available to help those looking to stop smoking, and it is a simple case of discovering which is the best and most suitable option for each individual.

Hypnosis is one of the most popular forms of complimentary and alternative medicine treatments for tobacco cessation and is often used by individuals who have not achieved success through other more traditional methods.

Smoking manifests itself on both a physical and psychological level, meaning that often when individuals attempt to relinquish the habit they are met with a series of unpleasant physical withdrawal symptoms that can result in motivation quickly diminishing.

Hypnosis addresses both the physical and psychological aspects of quitting, using a combination of techniques ranging from traditional clinical hypnotherapy through to neuro linguistic programming (nlp) and positive suggestion to retrain both the conscious and unconscious mind. These techniques are intended to replace habitual smoking behaviours with far more natural and healthy strategies.

Individuals looking to stop smoking have a far higher likelihood of success if they have access to help and support than if they go it alone, and a hypnotherapist specialising in quitting smoking could provide that necessary support.

Hypnotherapy Directory could prove a valuable tool to anyone wishing to go smoke free this Christmas, or indeed at any other time of the year. With an extensive library of fact-sheets and a countrywide database of qualified hypnotherapists, visiting Hypnotherapy Directory could play an important role in helping individuals to achieve their personal goals.

About Hypnotherapy Directory

Hypnotherapy Directory is a service that recognised the need for collating all of the information needed to help individuals find a suitable hypnotherapist in their local area. Whilst other directories may supply contact details, Hypnotherapy Directory goes that extra mile to provide all of the information that those seeking help may require to make the most informed decisions.

Hypnotherapy Directory lists full profiles detailing each hypnotherapists specialisms, the fees they charge, their practice location, qualifications and background information as to the kind of person they are. The directory also provides a wealth of information about hypnotherapy areas and techniques so visitors can browse this information before choosing a hypnotherapist.

500,000 Travelers Say ‘Yes’ To Giving Back Through FootprintsNetwork.org

(PRWEB) December 14, 2011

What does $ 2 get you half a cup of coffee, half-way across the Golden Gate bridge, a copy of the New York Times?

Marias $ 2 paid for:

A mans sight in Nepal, Teachers in India, Antibiotics in Vietnam, Running water in Timor LEste, A school in Cambodia, Care for orphans in South Africa, Interpreters for the deaf in Fiji, Water to a Peruvian village, A bridge in Laos, Refuge for girls in India

Maria is the 500,000th person to make a micro-donation through The Footprints Network. Collectively, her $ 2, and half a million others, have funded 70 projects helping impoverished communities in 25 countries.

Maria probably doesnt realize what a difference shes made! said WorldNomads.com Community Manager and Co-Founder of The Footprints Network, Christy McCarthy.

Its the fact half a million people, just like Maria, made a conscious decision to donate when buying online. They too felt a need to give back and that has helped raise over $ 1.2million and supported hundreds of thousands of people around the globe. she said.

Projects include sight restoration, farming, education, clean water, sanitation and other essentials. Most are in developing countries, which yield the greatest social return on investment.

During the online checkout, online customers are given a simple option to add a small donation to their total purchase. That micro donation is passed on to the charity project chosen by the customer.

On WorldNomads.com the contributions range from $ 1 to $ 5 but has also been rounded-up on other checkouts and could aggregate donations as low as 1c.

On WorldNomads.com the average micro donation is just over $ 2. Thats a significant number to us, said Ms McCarthy, because more than a billion people in the world live on less than $ 2 a day.

The Footprints Network was established by the team at travel insurance company WorldNomads.com following the 2004 Asian tsunami.

Its grown into an alliance of online e-commerce companies collaborating to help bridge the gap between individual donors and various charity projects.

We’re looking for more online e-commerce business partners to integrate the Footprints mechanism into their shopping carts and transaction by transaction, help make a difference, said Ms McCarthy.

With the Board of the Millennium Foundation deciding to discontinue MASSIVEGOOD, the heavily promoted airline GDS micro-donation initiative, questions are being asked as to whether consumers are willing to donate in this economic climate.

With up to 80% of customers donating through our partners, there is no sign people’s commitment to giving-back is waning. When you can see where every dollar is spent, it’s an easy decision to make a difference said Ms McCarthy.

And since WorldNomads.com generously supports all administrative costs of the program, 100 percent of donations go directly to the projects.

Were able to track exactly where the money goes. For instance, Maria donated to a project in Vanuatu where 150 teachers will be trained in improving child protection services. Maria will receive an emailed report of how her contribution helped that community. Thats the beauty of the Footprints Network said Ms McCarthy.
