As society becomes more technologically inclined, teenagers and children are going online in droves. The opportunities for them to research, learn and interact with each other are virtually limitless. Unfortunately, the Internet is not benign. Inappropriate websites, shady characters and cyberbullies lurk among every corner. This poses a conundrum for parents who want to allow their children to be connected while still staying safe. Fortunately, there are new tools on the market which grant parents the access needed to help their children stay safe. One such tool is Care4Teen. This intuitive parental monitoring software offers parents the ability to monitor activities, proactively block websites and stay involved in online communications.
Here are just a few brief benefits of Care4Teen.com:
Remote access. This means that parents never have to be out of touch with their child’s activities online. They simply login to their account from any computer or device with internet access and are taken to the page which displays all of their child’s activities, as further outlined below.
Intuitive parental-group blocking of websites. Care4Teen.com relies on a parent-controlled database for the blocking of inappropriate websites. The database lists over 3 million websites and the parents collectively determine whether or not a site is acceptable.
Complete parental control. Although Care4Teen acts intuitively with the blocking of sites, the parents retain complete control of their child’s online activity. They can choose to block certain sites which are white listed or allow sites which are black listed. Additionally, they can choose to have the program run with restricted or unlimited access, depending on who is using the computer at any time.
In-depth tracking and monitoring. The Care4Teen system includes many layers of built-in tracking and monitoring features. In addition to the intuitive blocking of websites, the program also records each URL visited, the length of time on each site, 10 second video clips captured every 2 minutes and random screen shots.
There is currently NO-CHARGE for this service. Care4Teen is currently in a beta phase; as such, it is currently free to download the software. Families who sign up during the beta phase will be granfathered-in after the site transitions to a paid-for model.
When it comes to cyberbullying, it is often said how the parents had no idea their child was being bullied online or doing the bullying. This web 2.0 epidemic has hurt countless children and the tragic stories are heart breaking. According to a 2007 study published by the Pew Internet & American Life Project, About one third (32%) of all teenagers who use the internet say they have been targets of a range of annoying and potentially menacing online activities such as receiving threatening messages; having their private emails or text messages forwarded without consent; having an embarrassing picture posted without permission; or having rumors about them spread online. Care4Teen.com offers parents just the tools needed to stay alert and on top of any bullying issues before they escalate.
Care4Teen.com launched in 2011. It was developed by Intelligent Control Internet Access Ltd., a small but professional team who are, first and foremost, dedicated parents. Their goal with Care4Teen was to create a resource that would tackle the growing problem of internet safety for children head on. The Care4Teen team knows what parents are looking for in an online solution because they are parents themselves and they believe that the internet can be made safe for kids when we all work together.

(PRWEB) December 05, 2012 — The new book “The Existence Game” arrives at a timely moment when organizations from youth clubs to churches and schools are being exposed as places where children are at risk from sexual predators. As each new horrible story explodes in the news, waves of individuals are coming out with their own personal stories of childhood hell. In the first half of 2012, the National Childrens Alliance reports that Child Advocacy Centers around the nation recorded 100,649 instances of reported sexual abuse (January through June 2012). According to Childhelp.org, about 80 percent of 21-year-olds who were abused as children meet the criteria for at least one psychological disorder.
Meet Alex Moser. Her friends find her fun, sharp and attractive. Her therapist knows she is terribly ill. Although few realize it, Alex is barely keeping her head above water. Plagued since childhood with numerous phobias, Alex has designed a life for herself in service to her fears. She works nights because she cant sleep when its dark out. She owns two months worth of clothing because she cant do laundry in her foreboding basement. Her windows are nailed shut and she sleeps in multiple layers of clothing, which she views as protective armor. And a voice keeps telling her shed feel better if she were dead.
Enter Jonathan Frank, renowned psychiatrist in chief at a prominent psychiatric hospital, and a man fascinated with the complexities of the human mind. Dr. Frank cant resist a challenge and Alex Moser, diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, is challenging in every way.
While this story offers a serious portrayal of mental illness and recovery, humorous anecdotes from the Irish pub where Alex works abound. From a police officer who drunkenly believes himself to be Superman to a pub owner whose hands-off approach leaves people wondering how he stays in business, there is no shortage of comic relief and characters who are well worth getting to know.
Judy Adams’ debut novel chronicles the first two months in Alexs journey back to health, balancing humor and sadness with great skill and making for a truly inspirational and satisfying read.
I was struck by how accurately Adams portrays the main character, Alex Moser, and the development of her borderline personality disorder. This isnt just a story of illness, but a remarkable, heartwarming story of recovery. Beautifully written and gripping from the start, Adams takes us into a hidden, taboo world and then leads us out, better human beings for the experience.

Health Newton Attorney Alison K. Grcevich authored a piece reflecting on the Steve Nash child custody battle currently taking place in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Lakers (NBA) star is hoping to be absolved of paying child support for his three children.
Nashs lawyer argued that he pays for almost all the medical expenses, child care, school and activity costs for the children, while his ex-wife, Alejandra is already pulling in a hefty income to the tune of $ 30,000 per month, although it comes nowhere close to her famous ex-husbands haul. In addition, Alejandra also received around $ 5 million in the divorce settlement. That money should not play into a support decision, seeing how that money is strictly allocated for her, while support money (alimony) is supposed to be dedicated to the childrens well-being.
In addition, Alejandra is reportedly trying to move the children from Arizona to California, while Nash fights to block them.
California is known for having higher child support orders than many other states, says Alison K. Grcevich, an attorney with Bay-area family law firm Heath Newton. Because the cost of living in California is one of the highest in the nation, the result is higher child support orders than many other states, where living expenses are naturally lower.

In her new memoir Problem Child Single Parent (published by Trafford Publishing), Sandra M. Brassell delivers a raw, gritty look at her battle to find a place for her daughter who is a special needs student in public school.
Brassells daughter suffers from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder as well as bipolar disorder. As Brassell says, her daughter was denied an education due, in part, to her mental disorders. However Brassell also feels strongly that she and her daughter encountered resistance and difficulty when dealing with school officials because of racial discrimination.
An excerpt from Problem Child Single Parent:
It isnt always as simple to care for a child with a mental problem, because it doesnt matter how much you want your child to be normal, you are always reminded that it is never that simple. I tried to protect my daughter under the law, but discrimination always seems to plays a significant part of her life. Normal people have a tendency to discriminate because they dont understand. I wanted my daughter to be a functioning Special Needs Child but knowing she is blackdoes make a difference because of stereotyping. I really wasnt able to make much difference. When she first started Junior High School that was where her problems started.
As she chronicles her battle with school officials, Brassell often refers back to a universal motivation for struggling for her daughters rights. We must make sure our children are receiving a quality education and it doesnt matter if the child has a disability or not, she says.
Delivering both a politically and personally prompted message, Problem Child Single Parent takes readers into the heart of Brassells lonely fight for her daughters future.
